For educators

Turn a lecture into a conversation with the whole hall

Put a PIN on your first slide and every student can answer a poll, add to a concept map, ask a question in chat and take the exit quiz from their own phone. No app, no account, no roll call.

Why hands stop going up

Three things a lecture hall makes hard

In a hall of 150, most students will not raise a hand. The same students will tap an answer on a phone when it takes three seconds and nobody sees their name.

How a session runs

A 90-minute lecture with YouLinker

A pattern that works for any subject. Every step below uses features included in the free plan.

  1. Before
    1

    Set up the workspace

Create a workspace in the education category, upload the slides and readings, and draft three polls and a short exit quiz. Write them yourself or ask the AI assistant for a first version and edit it.

  2. 0:00
    2

    Show the PIN

Put the 6-digit PIN and the QR code on the first slide. Students join in the browser and get a generated name; ask for an email if you want to follow up later.

  3. 0:10
    3

    First concept check

Launch a multiple-choice poll. Keep the results hidden until voting closes, then reveal the split and address the most popular wrong answer while it is fresh.

    Build the concept map together

Open the canvas with participants allowed to add sticky notes only. Students contribute examples from their seats; you connect them with arrows on the projector.

  5. 1:05
    5

    Word-cloud break

Ask for one word that summarizes the last section. The cloud tells you what stuck and what did not before you decide how to spend the last half hour.

  6. 1:20
    6

    Exit quiz

Run a five-question quiz with a time limit per question. Per-question results show which topic needs a second pass next week.

    Quizzes and analytics
  7. After
    7

    Review and hand out

Check the workspace analytics, save a named snapshot of the concept map, and publish a summary page with a permanent link students can find later.

Access

Anonymous by default, verified when it matters

Most sessions work best when students answer without their names attached. When you need to know who was there, for a seminar with credit or a graded quiz, switch the workspace to registered users only or upload a whitelist of student emails and send invitations with the PIN included.

  • Anonymous participants get a friendly generated name
  • Registered-only or invite-only whitelist per workspace
  • Email invitations with PIN and join link, plus invitation stats
  • Participation and response analytics per workspace

Assessment

Quizzes that show what stuck

Slide-based quizzes with multiple-choice, open-ended and text-highlighting questions, points, time limits and explanations shown after each answer. Save a quiz as a template and reuse it in every group; per-quiz analytics show the questions most students missed.

  • Randomize questions and answers, allow retakes, set a passing score
  • Run live in the hall or share a link for homework
  • Templates and a template library
  • AI drafts quiz questions from the topic

Fit

Built around how teaching actually works

Phones in the hall, two languages, a free plan for one course and a Pro plan for the department.

Frequently asked questions

Do students need to create an account?

No. Students join with the PIN or QR code and take part anonymously under a generated name. For graded sessions you can require accounts or restrict the workspace to a whitelist of student emails.

Will it work in a hall with 200 students?

The Pro plan allows up to 500 participants per workspace; Starter allows 30 and Basic 50. Students only need a browser and a network connection.

Can I see who took part?

In registered-only or whitelisted workspaces, participants are identified by their account, and workspace analytics keep participation and response data. Open workspaces are anonymous by design, although anonymous students can leave an email address if you ask for one.

Can I reuse my quizzes next semester?

Yes. Save a quiz as a template and create it again in a new workspace. Polls can be reset and run again, and the AI assistant can draft fresh variations of either.

Is student data kept in the EU?

Yes. YouLinker is hosted on Microsoft Azure in the EU and files are stored on Azure Blob Storage there. Transport is encrypted with TLS and passwords are hashed.

How is this different from clickers?

There is no hardware to hand out or collect. Students use their own devices, and the same workspace also holds the canvas, files, chat and quizzes rather than only multiple-choice votes.

Try it in your next lecture

Create a free workspace, add one poll and show the PIN on your first slide. That is the whole setup.
